Hello and welcome to the Transitioning Adults plus® blog.
My name is Adero. My staff and I operate TA plus to address the life transitions of mature adults. If you are an older adult or help provide care for someone older we will provide articles that are of interest for you and your care recipient.
The best way we can serve you is by assuring that everything we do embodies trust and integrity. We focus on answering questions and providing service that is person-centered. That means our answers focus on your needs, not on our bottom line. As a result we hope that open dialogue on issues faced by you and your older loved ones will drive this blog.
Have a question? Sign in and if we don’t know the answer we’ll ask one of our expert friends to chime in!

I am a senior and I would like more information about how to feel comfortable in my new home. The people all seem so old and I am still very active.I am 80 and I swim and walk a mile every day.I admit that I do need some assistance but I still feel young at heart.

It can be unnerving meeting new people in a new community. Many times we look at outward appearances and feel that we do not fit in with the people around us. More than likely your new community includes people who, like you feel significantly younger than they look. Try talking to some of them individually and learning about them. As you show an interest in others they will also begin to ask question and get to know you better. You may learn which of your new potential friends have been waiting for someone to swim or do other activities with them. If they are not active themselves remember to ask them what activities are available in the area. Remember, they have been there longer than you and probably have information you do not have yet!
Stay active! You are on the right track by not settling for less than you want for your life.
